The community of Willo, located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and the Willo Neighborhood Association, welcomes you to our historic neighborhood via the Internet.

As homeowners in one of the city's earliest suburbs, we take great pride in the charm of our historic neighborhood.

That pride is reflected in carefully manicured or lavishly landscaped yards and the creatively renovated and decorated homes. Seemingly bland brick facades conceal wonderful surprises - Victorian, traditional, contemporary and eclectic.

If you work downtown or in the midtown corridor, like to attend cultural events or take in a ball game, the Willo neighborhood is the perfect place to live.

Sincerely,
Brad Brauer

President
Willo Neighborhood Association

THE WILLO HOME TOUR A SUCCESS!

The signs are down and the park all cleaned up. Another wonderful Home Tour goes into the record books. Our Home Tour was a great success despite the weather, with close to 2,500 people touring ten homes (including the historic firehouse). Mark you calendar's now for the 2010 Willo Home Tour, taking place Sunday, February 7, 2010. Continue to the News to read the entire article.

Vice-Mayor Tom Simplot is visited by our Councilman, Michael Nowakowski, while he volunteers at the 2009 home tour

WILLO NEIGHBORHOOD CONSERVATION PLAN UPDATE

In the ongoing effort to preserve the integrity of our neighborhood, your Willo Neighborhood Board is in the process of updating the Conservation Plan and we would like to have suggestions from you–our neighbors and fellow homeowners–for ways we can improve and update the Plan.

Zoning in the transition zone may be the most important consideration. (This area is roughly defined as the first 200 feet or the first three houses west of First Avenue.) The vacant lot at First Avenue between Virginia and Cambridge has already been "upgraded" to C-O (commercial-office). Perhaps we can prevent future zoning upgrades by amending the Plan.

The Neighborhood Conservation Plan, circa 1986, is accessible on the Willo Web site or on the City of Phoenix Web site. Please take a look at the Plan and contact Chris Wertheim with your ideas at 602-944-5340 or via email.
